Chaos among the producers of the new James Bond - No one has any ideas for continuing the series

James Bond fans may be disappointed – they are unlikely to see a new 007 film before 2028. The chaos surrounding the production of the latest installment has frustrated even filmmakers. According to RadarOnline.com, Amazon executives, who acquired MGM in 2021, have been called "f------ idiots" by producers from Eon Productions for the lack of progress in the project.

What went wrong?

For ten years, fans have been waiting for a new Bond since Daniel Craig announced he was stepping down from the role of the superspy. It has now been three years since the release of No Time to Die, in which Bond’s character died on screen. Despite this, the filmmakers assured audiences that "James Bond will return." However, since then, little has happened – there is no new lead actor, no script, and no concrete plan for the future of the series.

A source close to the production revealed: "What happened to James Bond? There’s no star, no script, and no plan – and nothing suggests that will change anytime soon. Amazon is dragging its feet, and that’s an understatement."

Amazon’s issues and creative control

In 2021, Amazon acquired MGM for $8.45 billion, thereby gaining a financial stake in the James Bond franchise. However, the agreement ensured that Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson of Eon Productions retained full creative control over the series.

When asked about Bond’s future after Amazon’s takeover, Broccoli admitted: "The truth is we don’t know. We are not really any more aware of how we fit into this." Frustrated by the situation, she reportedly told friends: "These people are f------ idiots."

The longest gap in series history?

James Bond has faced long gaps between films before. After Licence to Kill in 1989, fans had to wait six years, four months, and ten days for GoldenEye in 1995, which introduced Pierce Brosnan as Bond. However, the current situation suggests that the next gap may be even longer.

To avoid breaking an unwanted record, the next Bond film would have to be released by February 2028. However, industry experts remain skeptical – they believe that work on the next installment may take at least another three years.

Who will be the next Bond?

Candidates for the role of James Bond have long included names like Idris Elba and Tom Hardy. However, delays in production are casting doubt on the future of the franchise.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson has also been considered as the new 007, but after the failure of his latest Hollywood film, many in the industry are questioning his "mainstream appeal" and ability to take on the iconic role.

Will Amazon manage to bring Bond back to the big screen? Will Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson find a new lead actor? One thing is certain – 007 fans will need to be patient.
